A human silhouette which immerses into a distinct environment over and over again defines the trademark of Spanish artist Oriol Texidor (*1974). In his series "Immersió", started in 2014 and, by now, consisting of more than 300 art works, he stresses the extraordinary impact of different substrate materials on the perception of this very silhouette. At times, it stands out in front of a golden background, others it appears to emerge from a cloud, and sometimes it even decorates public spaces in the form of a life-sized plastic.

The exhibition shows Texidor's art works in an artistic interplay with fellow Spanish artist Marc Prat (*1971). His work is particularly know for his versatility, including paintings, drawings, screen printings and etchings. With his expressionistic working method, Prat takes everything even slightly related to ink, coal and paint and turns it into something magical. Just a few lines may be sufficient to create an image, that captivates and involves the viewer's glance. The presented series "Absis" invites us to immerse into the artists' very own world of ideas: cathedrals solely based on memories and imagination.

EINSPRUNG –

BY JOHANNES KRIESCHE AND KA+MA

SEPTEMBER 19TH – NOVEMBER 19TH 2019 AT THE GALLERY RUBRECHT CONTEMPORARY

MARCH 6TH – APRIL 01ST 2021 AT THE GALLERY PONTARTE

VERNISSAGE ON WED, SEPTEMBER 18TH 2019 AT THE GALLERY RUBRECHT CONTEMPORARY

BEGINNING 8 PM

Reception and welcoming: Leander Rubrecht

Thematic introduction: discourse between the artist Johannes Kriesche and the gallerist Leander Rubrecht

EINSPRUNG is a neologism by artist Johannes Kriesche. "Als Kunsthändler und Kurator ist der Einsprung für mich ein aktuelles Synonym für den Mut etwas zu wagen – ohne tatsächlich etwas Unbekanntes zu machen – und doch das Ergebnis nicht zu kennen." – Leander Rubrecht

(figuratively translated: "As an art dealer and curator the EINSPRUNG is a currently relevant synonym for showing the courage to dare something which is not, in fact, unknown, yet the outcome remains uncertain.")

Gallery premiere: In the year 2016 the public was firstly introduced to the sculptures of artist duo KA+MA. The exhibition EINSPRUNG now marks the duos' premiere as being represented by the gallery RUBRECHT CONTEMPORARY. The material of their sculptures is synthetic, yet its appearance can differ very strikingly between soft and hard, shiny and matt, elegantly subtle and stridently colourful. At times, the sculptures may remind of high-quality product design, then again, sometimes they seem to cross the line between design and art embracing their purpose-free character. They will most definitely stay in the viewer's mind and convince with their uniqueness and recognisability.

The exhibition EINSPRUNG will first be shown in Wiesbaden and afterwards in Maastricht

ALPHAPAINTING

BY CHRISTINE STRASZEWSKI, GREET WEITENBERG AND EL EGO

FEBRUARY 28TH – MAY 9TH 2019 AT THE GALLERY RUBRECHT CONTEMPORARY

MAY 19TH –JUNE 19TH 2019 AT THE GALLERY PONTARTE

VERNISSAGE ON WED, FEBRUARY 27TH 2019 AT THE GALLERY RUBRECHT CONTEMPORARY

BEGINNING 8 PM

ALPHAPAINTING – The name sounds ambitious. Curated by Leander Rubrecht and Marieke Severens, this exhibition illustrates conceptuality by the use of aesthetic. A sophisticated context emerges, which explores the boundaries of painting itself and reviews it from the perspective of nature, art and the market.

EL EGO shows epi-art. Without even mentioning her name, Sturtevant is present. An installation heading towards the ceiling shows the lettering of GROSSE and RICHTER. A BASELITZ can be turned upside down kinetically. Those associations and allusions become more subtle with Lego sculptures, which refer to PER KIRKEBY, MEESE and HIRST. Defined by sculptural accuracy and humour, those works become irresistible. Geometrical forms interact: EL EGO'S homages to Bernd and Hilla Becher meet Greet Weitenberg's LANDSCAPES.

Geometry and nature are shown in symbiosis, allusions to art history reach from romanticism and constructivism to pop-art. Weitenberg creates depth and opens up new spaces; this goes for her digital art and installations alike. Her meticulously crafted artworks correspond playfully with the third, radical position of the exhibition. Christine Straszewski explores the art market and contemporary affairs. Coming from the point of view of the obvious, Straszewski exhibits large-scale canvases with expressive painting. Name and topic of NOWANDEVER, JANUSBUNNY and BIGARTSY reference old subjects of the art of painting, whereas her objects intendedly search for the limit.
